How to revise with these notes

Every chapter follows the same shape: the learning objectives, then the explanation with labelled diagrams, then that chapter’s key terms, and finally a set of multiple-choice questions taken from real past papers. Read straight through and a chapter takes roughly 20 to 40 minutes depending on its length.

When you revise, do not simply re-read. Answer the chapter questions, recall each key term from a flashcard rather than reading its definition, then write one essay or data-response part from that unit and mark it against the official mark scheme. The mark scheme tells you what an examiner actually pays for, which is rarely the same as what felt important while writing.

Closer to the exam, switch from loose practice to whole timed papers: multiple choice at Paper 1 or Paper 3 length and timing, written questions at their real tariff and time.

Frequently asked questions

Is CIE 9708 the same as CAIE Economics?

Yes. Cambridge International Examinations (CIE) was renamed Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE), and both names are still in everyday use. 9708 is the syllabus code for its AS & A Level Economics course, and these notes follow that syllabus.

What is the difference between AS and A Level Economics?

AS is units 1–6, covered by chapters 1–29 and examined by Paper 1 and Paper 2. The full A Level adds units 7–11, chapters 30–53, examined by Paper 3 and Paper 4 — which assume the AS material and revisit much of it in more depth.

Do these notes cover the whole 9708 syllabus?

All 53 chapters are here, arranged in syllabus order and grouped by unit. Each unit also has its own practice hub linking the chapters, the past-paper multiple-choice questions for that unit, and the essay and data-response questions that draw on it.

Are the notes free?

Yes — every chapter, mark scheme and practice question is free to read, with nothing to buy and no account needed. A free account only exists so that your practice history, wrong answers and flashcard schedule follow you between devices.

Can I read the notes in Chinese?

Yes. Every chapter, key term, diagram caption and question explanation is written in both English and 简体中文 — press 中文 in the header to switch, and the choice follows you from page to page.

How should I use these notes with past papers?

Read the chapter, then answer that chapter's multiple-choice questions while it is fresh — every chapter ends with its own set. Once a unit is finished, move to the essay and data-response banks for it, and mark yourself against the official mark scheme rather than against your own impression of the answer.
