CIE AS & A Level Economics (9708) Interactive Notes · Last updated: July 2026
Overview
This site (9708economics.com) is a free bilingual study resource. Reading the notes never requires an account. The optional free account exists only to sync your practice progress between devices and — if you join a class — to let your teacher see your practice.
For any question about this policy or your data, contact kingeducates@gmail.com.
What we collect
- Without an account: nothing. Your progress (answers, notes, highlights, flashcard schedule) lives only in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device.
- With a free account: your name, email, password (stored hashed by our authentication provider — we never see it), and your practice data — MCQ answers (from the practice tool and from the questions inside each chapter), flashcard reviews, quantitative drills, AO-skills drills, essay / data-response self-assessments, and the personal notes and highlights you write in each chapter's Notes & highlights panel (your teacher cannot see these; only you and a site administrator can).
- Class notes (where enabled): if you write a class note, question or reply on a chapter page, we store that text, the sentence you attached it to, and who wrote it. Classmates do not see your name — your note shows as “Classmate” and the time is shown only to the nearest hour. The teacher of that class does see your name and can delete any note. In a small class, classmates may still be able to guess who wrote what.
- Reading records: on every chapter you read, we record which sections you reached the end of, how far you scrolled in each, how long the page was open and visible, and how many of that section’s practice questions you tried. It records what you finished, not what you read — no selected text, no notes, no reading order is stored. You can see your own full record under the score card at the end of every chapter. It is never used to grade you.
- Enquiries & diagnostic applications: if you apply for the free essay diagnostic (or contacted us through the former contact page) we store what the form submits — the student’s name and school, exam session and grades, the parent’s name and contact details, and your message — used only to run that diagnostic and reply to you. Email kingeducates@gmail.com at any time to correct or delete an application record.
How it is used
- To show you your own learning analytics (mastery, weak topics, mistakes to review).
- Class transparency: if you join a class with a join code, that class's teacher can see your practice attempts and self-assessments in order to teach you. This stops if you leave the class or delete your account.
- Class notes: so classmates can read each other's questions and explanations about the text, and the teacher can answer where the question was asked. Deleting your account also deletes your notes and the replies other people left underneath them.
- Reading: so a teacher can see whether a chapter they set was actually read. A teacher whose class you are in can see your reading records for any chapter, not only the ones they set. They see, per section, whether you reached the end and tried the questions, and how long you spent. It is informational — it is not a mark.
- To understand site usage in anonymous, aggregate form and improve the content.
We do not sell personal data and do not use it for advertising.
Processors (services we use)
- Supabase — database and account authentication (account profiles and practice data are stored here).
- Vercel — website hosting and content delivery.
- Vercel Web Analytics — cookieless, privacy-first visit statistics provided by Vercel, our hosting platform. It sets no cookies, does no cross-site tracking, and collects no personally-identifiable information (so no cookie-consent banner is needed); we only see anonymous aggregate traffic.
- Sentry (when enabled) — error monitoring that helps us find and fix site breakage.
AI examiner feedback (not currently offered): if this feature is enabled in future, then when (and only when) you actively click the "AI examiner feedback" button, your submitted answer text and that question's official mark-scheme points are sent via our server to Anthropic's API (Claude models) for marking, and an estimated mark with per-objective feedback is returned. Anthropic does not use this data to train AI models. Each marking call's usage (question id, model used, token counts and cost) is logged against your account and visible only to you and the site administrator; the answer text itself is not additionally stored in that log.
Cookies & local storage
This site uses no advertising or tracking cookies. Your browser's localStorage holds interface preferences (language, theme, font size), study progress, and — when signed in — the session token that keeps you signed in. Clearing your browser data removes all of it.
Retention, export & deletion
- Account data is kept until you delete your account.
- You can export a copy of your data any time from the account page.
- Deleting your account (type DELETE on the account page) immediately and permanently removes it and all associated data.
Students & minors
This site is designed for students preparing for Cambridge International exams (typically ages 16–19). If your country requires guardian consent for minors to use online services, please use the account features with the consent of a parent, guardian or school.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will be flagged on the site.
